Cindy started working in the field of employment initiatives with the Alberta government in the early 90s. She became interested in the language and cultural barriers faced by immigrants trying to find jobs in Alberta. Since completing Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) training at the University of Alberta, she has designed and taught curricula in Canada and abroad, aiming to increase the workplace and language skills of people whose first language is not English.
In 2004, Cindy completed the HRSDC Essential Skills Certificate and continues to work on employment access by combining best practices in essential skills methodology and materials development with English as a second language pedagogy.
In 2008, Cindy assumed the role of Executive Director of the Alberta Workforce Essential Skills Society.
