Bridge to Better Onboarding

Funder(s): Alberta Labour, Innovative Language Projects
Project Partner(s): Alberta Food Processors Association (AFPA), McCain Foods, Lethbridge Public Library: Read On Program , and Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC)

Providing language, essential skills, and intercultural communications training early in the workplace integration process increases engagement in orientation training and onboarding and can reduce workplace disadvantages immigrants sometimes face. In Bridge to Better Onboarding, 60 immigrant workers in the food processing industry received language and essential skills training to help them attach to the workforce earlier and boost productivity and teamwork. Forty managers also received language, essential skills, and intercultural tools and resources to integrate into their onboarding and orientation processes.
