ESL programs in Alberta are essential to the successful integration of newcomers into the workforce and their communities. To support newcomers on their journey from the classroom to the workplace, AWES and the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (SRDC) partnered to explore the landscape of programming in Alberta’s ESL sector to collect data on the feasibility and potential benefits of a unified ESL curriculum that incorporates Skills for Success methodology. Stakeholders across the province are contributing to this project by sharing any challenges they face with not having a unified curriculum, any difficulties they experience with finding or creating curriculum resources, their view on the use of and role of Skills for Success in language instruction, and their perspective towards the idea of establishing a unified ESL curriculum in Alberta.
