AWES, in collaboration with SRDC and ODEN, is developing an innovative employer-focused training program designed to help employer’s capacity to recruit and retain people with disabilities. Hiring this underutilized talent pool will help employers adapt to labour market challenges and stay competitive. It will be implemented across the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario.
Employ Ability will provide employers with tools and strategies to make workplace practices accessible at each stage of employment (i.e recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention advancement). Participating employers will receive access to a promising practice for hiring inclusivity guide and a Community of Practice to share success stories and lessons learned with other employers committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Training will be available at no cost starting in the Fall of 2024, with monthly cohorts offered until early 2026. Employers can expect to spend approximately 25 hours to complete the training.
