Integrating the Essential Skills Tools into the Employment Counselling Process

To ensure newcomers are prepared to participate in Alberta’s dynamic labour market safely and successfully, AWES provided training workshops to 57 employment counsellors in Edmonton, Calgary, and Red Deer. Participating employment counsellors learned about the essential skills framework, received tools to support newcomer integration and workplace development, and explored the relationship between essential skills levels, abilities, and success in the workplace to help their clients attain and retain gainful employment.
