Canadian-born and English as an Additional Language (EAL) workers at Pockar Masonry received integrated training to respond to needs identified by AWES in an essential skills assessment. The targeted workplace essential skills training focused on communication, document use, computer skills, and plain language. Productivity and workplace safety increased as a result of training, and participating workers demonstrated improved essential skills and more effective communication.
