To better understand the specific complexity of tasks and the specific essential skills required to perform tasks successfully and effectively in the public works and utility sectors, AWES worked with water and wastewater operators in rural Alberta. Through several interviews with workers, AWES was able to identify skills-related learning needs within the occupation, uncover workplace and productivity issues related to essential skills levels, and introduce workplace essential skills training as a solution.
