Community organizations are the first point of contact for thousands of immigrants in Alberta who seek employment services, support, or training and don’t have access to mainstream programs. In this project, AWES provided community organizations in seven locations throughout the province with training and resources on the language, essential skills, and workplace culture skills needed for employment in trades occupations. With these new tools and the training, the community organizations increased their capacity to help newcomers access training and find employment.
