Disability service providers and members of the Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) work with staff and clients who have diverse physical and mental abilities, and various cultural and language backgrounds. ACDS identified a need in its member organizations for improved English language skills, communication, intercultural skills, leadership, and essential skills. AWES developed new resources and a training program for the sector and delivered workplace essential skills training, including an intercultural specialist course, to 197 employees from 22 organizations.
