English language learners learn a lot of new information when they enter the Canadian workforce. Safety information, in particular, can be complex and difficult for newcomers to grasp. The English for Workplace Safety project created a four-module training program that integrated language with crucial safety terms and concepts, such as Canadian safety standards, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Law, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) to prepare learners for the workplace and future safety training.
